Advice in Love Relationship - What to Take and What to Leave Behind

Are you looking for advice in a loving relationship? Is the whole notion of a romantic relationship foreign to you and you don't really know how to proceed? Have you been burned a few times and you're not really sure if you have the guts to put yourself out there again?

There's plenty of relationship advice out there and it can be hard to know who to believe and who to trust. Read on to see what you should be ignoring and what you should pay particular attention to.

Relationship Advice from Friends and Family

Of course these are the people who know you best and have your best interest at heart. However, they can also have a skewed view of who you should be hooking up with. You can benefit from friends who are frank enough to tell you your faults and that perhaps you're in the wrong when it comes to a particular situation. This can make for a healthier romance.

Moms Know Best

As a rule of thumb, the people who raised you are going to know the type of person you are and the kind of relationship that will most likely make you happy. When a parent sees their daughter dating a man who seems insincere or even dangerous, it's hard to butt out and keep silent and the relationship advice spews out involuntarily.

While you still have your own thoughts and you know how you feel about a particular man, don't automatically disregard what your mom might have to say. Take it into consideration and try to see him from her perspective. It could end up saving you a lot of trouble and heartache in the long run.

Also remember that the advice of a woman who has been there before can be of immense value. She has been through things and seen things you can't even imagine yet. Don't just wave away the precious advice she might have.

Fine Tuning

Every piece of advice you hear, whether from your mom, your best friend, a radio call in show or an internet forum, make sure you take what's pertinent to your situation and leave the rest behind. What might work for one couple in a particular circumstance might not be what you need.

General and All Round Advice

No matter how you cut it, a relationship needs to have mutual respect. Advice columnist and forums might tell you how to figure your way around that topic, but it basically comes down to that.

Some will advise silly games to get a man more interested, or subtle maneuvers to get him to love you more, or worst still, out and out staged scenarios that are meant to foster one emotion or another in the man you supposedly love.

Take the high road and steer clear of silly and immature games that can only end up putting a wedge between you and your partner. What works in the soap operas isn't necessarily geared for real life. Use only advice that is meant for the real world.

Relationship advice is everywhere. If you come across something that sounds too weird or cockamamie, don't be afraid to disregard it. In the end your instincts will tell you when something sounds right for you and when it's just too out there.
